Report Card Information

Introducing the Intermediate School Report Card

This year our school is introducing a new report card that measures progress based on specific grade level standards. The terminology and content of the report card is closely aligned with the New York State Common Core Curriculum. This report card is intended to give more detailed feedback on student progress that goes beyond traditional numerical or letter grading. The purpose of assessing and the report card are to see if your child is learning and then to teach them in the areas they need further assistance.

At every grade level New York State has developed learning standards and specific learning benchmarks and competency levels students should be able to demonstrate in reading, writing and math. Teachers are accountable for knowing these standards and using them to guide their instruction, but more importantly assess each child’s learningand journey as they demonstrate mastery through work samples and teacher observation.

We recognize this is may be a significant change for many of our families which is why we hope to see all of you at our parent-teacher conferences on November 14th & 15th. These conferences will provide the opportunity to review the report card with your child’s classroom teacher and address any questions at that time.

Please remember that the report card is just one way of learning about your child’s progress in school. Conferences with the teacher, along with samples of your child’s work, can add to your understanding of your child’s performance in school. We encourage each of you to maintain an open line of communication between school and home.

Thank you for your support we look forward to working with you all throughout the year. The links below will take you to a copy of the report card and a presentation from the curriculum fair.
