1.  READ 180 is an effective reading intervention program.  It is a comprehensive system of curriculum, instruction, and assessment proven to raise reading achievement for struggling readers.  This program has three stations: guided reading, independent reading, and computer.  

*Read 180 students are pulled out daily for their entire one hour reading block.  The Reading Specialist gives the reading grades on the report card.


2.  Leveled Literacy Instruction has systematically designed lessons and original, engaging leveled books. This program supports learning in both reading and writing, helps students expand their knowledge of language and words and how they work.  

*LLI students are pulled out daily for a half hour during their independent reading time.


3.  Title I is a specialized reading program designed by the AIS provider.  Students will work on comprehension skills with non-fiction and fiction texts weaved in to support the skills taught.  Writing skills will be addressed as needed. 

*Title I students are pulled out daily for a half hour during their independent reading time.


4.  Classroom AIS is taught by the classroom teacher.  Students are reading on or above grade level but need additional support to assist them with the skills assessed by the New York State ELA test. 

*Classroom AIS students stay in the classroom and receive 20 minutes of support every other day.


5.  Learning House is a brief, intensive program designed to prepare students for the New York State ELA test.  The skills taught are those which have caused difficulty to our student population.  The students selected are the classroom AIS students.

*Learning House students are pulled out daily for 25 minutes at the end of the day.  This program lasts for approximately 20 days.
